HTO™ 180 | Hot Oil Pump | Tempuflo Series

The HTO™ 180 is a heavy‑duty, end‑suction centrifugal hot‑oil pump engineered for continuous service in extreme thermal environments. Purpose‑built for high‑temperature heat‑transfer fluids, it delivers reliable circulation for demanding processes in plastics, chemicals, food production, and other industrial applications where uptime, seal life, and thermal stability are critical.

Product Overview

The HTO™ 180 combines a patented, ambient‑air seal‑protection architecture with a robust, ductile‑iron pressure boundary to sustain performance at process temperatures up to 650°F (343°C). By directing cooler ambient air to the seal area, the pump reduces seal operating temperatures relative to bulk fluid temperature – helping extend mechanical seal life and reduce maintenance frequency. This design is particularly advantageous in continuous high‑heat cycles where conventional pumps suffer accelerated seal wear.

Hydraulically, the HTO™ 180 is a 3" x 1‑1/2" end‑suction unit rated for flows up to 320 GPM (72.7 m³/h) and differential heads up to 160 ft (49 m), making it suitable for medium‑to‑high circulation loads with moderate head requirements typical of thermal‑oil systems. An enclosed 6.45" (163.8 mm) steel impeller provides efficient energy transfer and stable performance across the operating envelope.

For mechanical integrity and long service life, the wetted components are cast from ductile iron, while a 303 stainless‑steel drive sleeve protects the shaft from corrosion and wear under hot‑oil conditions. The standard mechanical seal configuration is carbon vs. silicon carbide with Viton® elastomers, with an optional severe‑duty seal available for particularly abrasive or harsh thermal‑fluid chemistries.

Integration is flexible: the HTO™ 180 can be supplied close‑coupled (184TC or 215TC frame), as a pedestal pump for belt or spacer‑coupling arrangements, or as a PumPAK® (less motor) for OEM builds. Horizontal and vertical mounting options simplify retrofits and new installations alike. The pump is typically driven by motors up to 10 HP (7.35 kW), aligning well with the hydraulic demands of centralized and distributed heat‑transfer circuits.

Features & Benefits

  • Patented ambient‑air seal cooling  –  Lowers seal face temperature vs. bulk fluid, markedly extending seal life and reducing unplanned downtime.
  • High‑temperature capability to 650°F (343°C)  –  Ensures stable, continuous operation in extreme thermal environments found in hot‑oil service.
  • Robust hydraulic performance  –  Up to 320 GPM and 160 ft head cover a wide range of heat‑transfer loops without oversizing.
  • Durable construction  –  Ductile‑iron casing and 303 SS drive sleeve enhance mechanical strength and wear resistance at elevated temperatures.
  • Seal options for demanding service  –  Standard carbon/SiC/Viton® with optional severe‑duty configuration for challenging media.
  • Flexible configurations  –  Close‑coupled (184TC/215TC), pedestal, or PumPAK® variants support OEM and MRO needs; horizontal or vertical mounting eases installation.
  • Maintenance‑friendly design  –  Precision engineering and the protected seal environment help reduce lifecycle costs and service intervals.
