Product Overview

The MP Pumps Series 120 is a high‑performance end suction centrifugal pump engineered to deliver stable hydraulic output, mechanical robustness, and long operating life across a broad spectrum of fluid‑handling environments. Designed with a 2" x 1.5" NPT suction and discharge configuration, the pump offers an efficient hydraulic passage that supports both high‑flow and moderate‑head applications, reaching up to 200 GPM (45.4 m³/h) and 135 feet (41 m) of total dynamic head

At the core of the design is a 6-inch (152.4 mm) dynamically balanced enclosed impeller, available in cast iron or bronze, engineered to minimize vibration and maximize bearing life. The enclosed impeller geometry enhances hydraulic efficiency by reducing recirculation losses while maintaining stable performance over a wide operating range. Its smooth internal flow path supports consistent pressure generation even under fluctuating system conditions.

The pump body and major pressure-containing components are manufactured from durable cast iron, selected for its mechanical strength, wear resistance, and thermal stability. This allows the Series 120 to withstand harsh environmental conditions and variable loading profiles typically encountered in agricultural, commercial, and industrial installations. The use of stainless steel fasteners further enhances structural longevity by minimizing corrosion risks, particularly in humid or chemically aggressive atmospheres.

A key operational advantage of the Series 120 lies in its self-adjusting, corrosion‑resistant mechanical seal, supplied standard in carbon/ceramic/Viton materials. This seal combination provides a strong balance of chemical compatibility, temperature resistance, and durability against abrasive wear. For specialized operating conditions or more aggressive fluids, additional seal material combinations can be custom‑specified.

The pump is close‑coupled to standard NEMA JM motors using a precision-engineered adaptor that shields the motor from hydraulic loads while improving alignment and assembly accuracy. This adaptor reduces motor‑side wear, simplifies maintenance, and contributes to reliable long-term operation. The Series 120 is compatible with motor powers up to 7.5 HP (5.5 kW), ensuring ample flexibility for integration into varying system pressures and flow demands.

To support different installation requirements, the Series 120 is available in multiple drive configurations. These include close‑coupled JM and TC frame motors, hydraulic motor drives in three displacement sizes (.45, .58, and .73 cu in), a pedestal-mounted version for belt-driven systems, and the PumPAK® option, which provides the pump assembly without a motor for custom motor pairing. This modularity allows users to match the pump precisely to the mechanical power source best suited to their application.

The hydraulic design accommodates entrained solids up to 0.24" (6 mm) in diameter, making the pump suitable for fluids that are not entirely particulate‑free—such as agricultural runoff, light industrial process water, or commercial service liquids. The pump’s internal clearances and impeller passageways maintain optimal throughput while safeguarding against clogging under normal operating conditions.

Together, these mechanical, hydraulic, and design characteristics make the MP Pumps Series 120 a versatile and heavy‑duty pumping solution capable of delivering dependable performance across continuous, intermittent, or high‑demand duty cycles. The pump’s balance of efficiency, rugged construction, serviceability, and configuration flexibility positions it as a long-term solution for operators seeking reliability and reduced total cost of ownership.
