Product Overview
The FLOMAX® 40 is a 4" × 4" NPT self‑priming centrifugal pump designed to provide efficient, continuous fluid transfer while maintaining prime after the initial fill. Its integrated flapper valve retains a full column of liquid in the suction line, preventing loss of prime during operation. This design delivers dependable performance in applications where intermittent flow, suction lift, or varying conditions may otherwise interrupt pumping activity.
Engineered for durability, the pump features a cast‑iron construction enhanced with corrosion‑resistant stainless steel fasteners and a stainless steel drive sleeve. A renewable wear plate protects critical internal surfaces and contributes to extended service life, while the semi‑open, dynamically balanced impeller ensures smooth and efficient hydraulic performance. The impeller’s maximum diameter of 7.75" (196.85 mm) supports flow rates up to 750 GPM (170.3 m³/h) and discharge heads up to 225 ft (69 m), making the unit suitable for high‑demand tasks.
The FLOMAX® 40 can be configured in multiple drive arrangements, including close‑coupled JP frame motors, long‑coupled T‑frame motor configurations, gasoline engine drives, and a pedestal version for belt‑driven systems. It is also available as a fully assembled PumPAK® pump end for flexible integration with various power sources.
A range of seal material combinations – including standard carbon/ceramic/Viton and optional special‑duty variants – allows customization for abrasive, dirty, or chemically aggressive fluids. The pump handles solids up to 0.65" (16.5 mm), further increasing its versatility.
Ideal for both mobile and stationary systems, the FLOMAX® 40 performs efficiently in applications such as bilge and ballast transfer, fire protection, sprayers, washdown systems, fertilizers and pesticide handling, nurse tanks, and general bulk liquid movement.
