Product Overview
The redesigned Double Seal Flomax series incorporates a patent‑pending configuration that relocates the barrier fluid accumulator directly onto the pump body, creating a significantly more compact and robust assembly. This integrated accumulator eliminates the need for external plumbing and reduces system costs, while simultaneously increasing reliability by maintaining a controlled pressure environment within the seal chamber.
The dual mechanical seal arrangement – featuring Silicon Carbide vs. Silicon Carbide faces – operates with a positively pressurized barrier fluid. This prevents process media from migrating into the seal chamber and protects internal components from abrasive wear. The constant presence of barrier fluid also enables extended periods of dry‑run operation, making the Flomax 5 & 8 ideal for applications with inconsistent flow, intermittent suction conditions, or solids‑laden fluids.
Both models utilize a precision‑balanced semi‑open cast iron impeller engineered for optimized hydraulic performance. Their self‑priming design ensures reliable operation even in systems with long suction lines or challenging lift requirements, with maximum lifts up to 15 ft. Multiple drive configurations – including electric motors (145TC and 56C), engine‑driven systems, pedestal drives, and PumPak® options – allow seamless integration into a wide range of industrial setups.
Typical applications include tank unloading, chip conveyor systems, and bentonite‑rich drilling fluid handling – where the combination of abrasion resistance, seal protection, and robust priming capabilities ensure long‑term, trouble‑free performance.
