Product Overview
The FLOMAX® 8 316 SS is designed as a rugged 2" x 2" self‑priming centrifugal pump capable of achieving up to 150 GPM (34 m³/h) of flow and a maximum head of 100 ft (30.5 m). The pump’s stainless‑steel construction provides exceptional resistance to chemical attack, making it suitable for corrosive environments encountered in marine operations, chemical transfer, fertilizer dosing, washdown systems, and industrial fluid handling.
A key performance advantage of the FLOMAX® 8 is its ability to self‑prime after the initial fill. The integrated Viton® flapper valve maintains the liquid column within the suction line, supporting suction lifts of up to 25 ft (7.6 m). This ensures operational stability, eliminates repeated manual priming, and reduces downtime in applications prone to variable suction conditions.
The pump uses a semi‑open impeller with a maximum diameter of 5.0" (127 mm), providing efficient passage for small solids while maintaining hydraulic efficiency. It supports driver configurations including close‑coupled NEMA 56C or 145TC frame motors, pedestal mounting, PumPAK® pump‑end assemblies, and gas‑engine mounts up to 6.5 HP (4.8 kW). This versatility enables integration into a wide range of OEM assemblies, portable pump systems, or fixed installations.
The mechanical seal is supplied in a carbon/ceramic/Viton® configuration, with optional alternative material combinations available for specialized chemical or abrasive services. Optional upgrades include multiple hydraulic motor displacements and a high‑flow 5‑blade impeller for applications requiring elevated flow rates.
Engineered and tested for dependable operation, the FLOMAX® 8 316 SS adheres to rigorous standards and is ABS Type Approved, making it suitable for marine‑certified applications.
