PETROLEUM 40 | P Series | Self-Priming Centrifugal Pump (4" x 4")

The MP Pumps Petroleum 40 is a high‑performance, self‑priming centrifugal pump engineered for demanding fuel‑handling applications. Designed to generate strong vacuum levels and lift liquids from heights up to 25 feet, it provides dependable transfer of a wide range of petroleum‑based fluids. With three specialized models – PE, PG, and PO – Petroleum 40 ensures optimal compatibility with ethanol blends, gasoline, diesel, biodiesel, aviation fuels, and more.

Product Overview

The Petroleum 40 series combines robust construction with engineered performance to deliver reliable pumping in industrial, agricultural, marine, and OEM applications. Its self‑priming capability enables rapid startup without external priming equipment, even when suction lines are not fully flooded.

Each model is equipped with a semi‑open, dynamically balanced impeller that maintains smooth hydraulic performance while facilitating the passage of small solids. The renewable wear plate extends the service life of the casing by allowing inexpensive replacements rather than full component changeouts. Stainless steel fasteners and drive sleeves further enhance corrosion resistance and mechanical integrity.

The pump is offered in three compatibility‑based configurations:

  • PE 40 – Optimized for ethanol and E85 with corrosion‑resistant seal material and optional 316 stainless‑steel impeller.
  • PG 40 – Designed for gasoline, kerosene, avgas, and jet fuels, featuring optional aluminum impeller and non‑sparking clamp construction.
  • PO 40 – Tailored to biodiesel, diesel, and fuel oils, incorporating a Type 21 seal for durability in heavier hydrocarbon environments. With flow rates up to 750 GPM (170.3 m³/h) and heads up to 225 ft (69 m), the Petroleum 40 delivers industrial‑grade output while maintaining efficient operation. A pedestal‑mount configuration allows for long‑coupled installations with external motors up to 50 HP (36.7 kW), making it adaptable to a wide range of system requirements
